Entryway Ideas for Spring

Spring

It's that time of year to add some fresh color to the entryway to welcome family and friends into my home.

I've made a couple of changes not only in my life and my blog, but the way I decorate. So let's take a tour into the entryway and see how things have changed.

One of the things I am going to work on is how I decorate. I noticed I was falling into the trap. Have you seen the trap? It's the one where you have to go out and buy every cute little bunny, squirrel, pillow and sign so that every corner of your house is filled up with pink, yellow and critter goodness.

Yeah, I am going to stop doing that.

Says the woman who scored a metal sign from JoAnne's for 5 bucks. Ok, to me that one is timeless, plus I can put it outside. What I mean exactly is I am going to try to add the feeling of spring without buying trendy items every new season. If you have seen the crap, ok, knick knacks I have been purging out of my woman cave.

You'd be amazed. The sad thing is I still have a few items left that no one in my family seem to want! Like these dishes for example.... Nobody is gushing over them. I thought for sure somebody would want them!

Sadly I think I am going to end up taking them to the thrift store,

and I only used them once! Don't tell Greg.

Back to talking about the entryway. I found some budget friendly silver frames at TJ Maxx and changed out the family photos that were in black picture frames for a brighter more metallic look.

Plus I added the moss covered books I made a couple months back.

The one thing I am going to start doing when decorating is try and keep a more scaled back feel with adding seasonal decor. I still will want a pop of pink or Spring. But filling up the entire hutch or room is getting kind of old to me. It's not that I don't like it.

I just want to sit on my butt more.

Kidding!

Spring

I just don't want to be a slave to the seasons anymore. I'm loving where my money is going these days and that's for the experiences.

And plants. Not more stuff to dust. Know what I mean? Plus I can add Spring with 5 tulips from my garden and a houseplant.

If I need to make changes to add a new look, I don't want to feel like I have to buy all new stuff.

The garden books I bought during winter to read and read them every time it snows. The trowel and hand shovel I found at Dollar Tree. I want to keep a small supply of tools in the front yard when Gardening season hits. Sometimes I get irritated at the thought of having to trudge all the way in the back to get to the shed to find what I need.

Fifty miles is a long way to walk.

That's not the size of my lot, but it feels like it after a long day of weeding.
