Decorating the Potting Bench for Christmas

Potting Bench

Decorating my potting bench is totally new to me this year. In 2019 this potting bench was getting used so much I literally never wiped the dirt off because it would be back the following day! So to spruce it up just to be pretty was kinda fun.

Especially since all the greenery here is living and It only cost about 6 bucks for all of it. That's right folks, I found another score at the big box store this Fall and pounced so many times, the back of my SUV smelled like evergreens for weeks afterwards.

That's not a complaint, it actually was kind of nice. The dirt not so much.

Funny story. I knew we would be doing a lot of holiday lights this year outside so I had the ultimate elf light hanger extraordinaire take a week of vacation to get it done at a nice leisurely pace. Ready to seriously get back to work and stop being my muscle for an entire week Greg holds the last light strand in his hand and asks

Is that it? No more lights you want up?
Nope, no more lights.
So we're done with the outside? He asks.
Completely! I reply. Fully confident in my answer because I am also tired of lighting the outside and answering the all too important male questions of "where do you want this?" when I'm trying to keep my brain on interior design mode in the house.
Also noting his derisive snort and wondering if I should be offended by his apparent disbelief in my answer. I go back to trying to get one room 100% done without distraction or another run to the store for a plug, cord, bulb or aspirin.

6 days later he walks in the back door from work and lo and behold his wife is holding a wreath and one tree wrap strand of lights. OK, so he was right to snort. But I made it 6 days before I added something, that's good right?

The potted junipers were all bought at Lowe's when they were all 90% off. I bought ten I think? I potted them in anything galvanized I could. I filled every bucket or pail I could find in my stash and am so glad I did!

A few red ornaments added and I was done.

I added Christmas touches to the garage containers as well. Some tall birch logs, metal signs, red berries and large jingle bells that really look festive during the day as well.

The pots really look amazing as I drive up and really set off the new garage door we had installed this summer.
